What happed to Red?

I am here, in Iowa, with a severly pissed off aunt in Wisconsin. Oh well what can ya do...

The kids and I "moved" here on Monday. We are camping out in R & K's living room.

I went job hunting down here last Tuesday, so hopefully something comes out of that...

7:00 AM Phone rings.... me "Hello?" angry aunt on the line. ack. Good thing I was already awake and had my morning cig. (Its like coffee drinkers, do NOT talk to them before their first cup)

Today I went back to Comfort Inn but the lady I should talk to will not be in until tomorrow. I got my calendar marked! I also went to the temp agency in town and talked with them. They have two job postings at this time. One is at KRAFT filling jello cups, and the other is an assistant sales associate for a cell phone place. Um ya. I cant sell shit to dung beatles. So I have to go back in Thursday June 8th for some training or test or something.. not quite sure. I marked that on my calendar too (and not the ginormous one. that stayed behind along with 98% of our things... - the cats. they are living on the porch so we can be near them)

So yeah. Ok done.

Parenthood

We do not raise children, we raise adults. – Dr Phil

This is so true. Yes, in a way you raise children, but you are mostly raising them to be adults. They have to learn that things are not free, and not everything is done for them. They must be able to go off to college and succeed in the world alone. You can not be with them all the time when they are adults. You teach behaviors, children learn from what you teach them, what you say to them, and what kind of parent that you are. They were not born with bad behavior, it is a learned behavior. If you have ever said something out loud, then later hear it from your child, it can be an eye opening moment of the awful truth. My husband and I believe that everything you do or say to a child before the age of six will transform them into what they will be. It is all up to you as a parent on what and how you teach your child.

As a parent for the last five years, we have learned many things. You learn that your life is not over it just has a new beginning. For those who say your life is over, have never experienced a pregnancy of a loved one, the birth of a child, first baths, teeth, crawling, first steps, or a first birthday. These things are wonderful milestones to any caring parent.

Children do not come with manuals although some parents wish they did. There are several good books to help you along the way, but these books are like people with opinions on how you should raise your children. You take what works for you and discard the rest. Sometimes it gets hard to listen to everyone who has something to say about how exactly you should raise your child right down to what they should wear, what religion they should follow, what music they should or should not listen to, what television shows are best. The advice can be extremely overwhelming.

You know when you take a wrong turn in parenting because it comes back to haunt you. My children have been able to freely watch TV as they wish. They have a TV in their room, and it is always on. When they eat, they want to watch the TV in the living room. Most of the time, the TV is just something going on in the background for my children. Other times they cuddle with their favorite blanket and toys and chill. Every one needs time to just relax.

Today, as I do my daily tasks, I shut the TV off so I could listen to music. That was over an hour ago now. All I have heard for the last hour from Caitlin is “Mom can I watch TV?” “Mom will you turn on the TV?” “I’m going to turn on the TV if you don’t mom” “I don’t like you because your not letting me watch TV.” This is when you realize you have gone too far. Changes need to be made and fast.

I know we have well behaved children, but sometimes they lash out. If you think about it, it is something that we have done or not done that creates this behavior in the child. Everything you do affects your child and their childhood even the small things.

I hope I can steer my children on to the right path in the future. I am going to start some major TV rules today. Wish me luck, I think I need it.

McDreamy vs. McVet

Hmm... Ok if you watch this show, and have not seen the two hour long season finale, you might want to stop reading. right here. do it. now.
..

..

..

..

..

..

..

..
...........OMG I cant belive the finale! Well I can, because we all just KNEW it was leading up to this. After last seasons finale, we were left with Meridith standing by McDreamy and the wife that Meridith did not know about until then...

So now, we are held at this point where she is standing there and has to choose between McDreamy (who she just had hot steamy sex with) or McVet (the guy she thinks will give her some stability in life and is a great catch)... Who willl she choose?? UGH! The agony! And now we will be stuck at this point until fall.... lol

Makes for great tv !

Now bring on the two hour finale of Desperate Housewives and 24! The prison break finale was not so ... cliff hanger 'er... Yet still good..

G'Night!

Routines

Since I have this ginormous calendar in front of me at all times, I figure now would be a great time to get back into my daily, weekly, and monthly routines. This might not be easy at first because I have been slacking for so long, but I have to at least give it a try, right? They are all written down right in front of me, so my only excuse would be because I am lazy.

But I am lazy. I don’t mean to be, I just don’t ever feel like doing anything at all. Maybe it’s my bi polar, maybe my meds are not right, but I am not screaming like a banshee at my children daily, or am extremely moody, so they should be okay, right?

Anyways, sticking to my routines was one of my New Year’s resolutions. So here goes…First thing Monday morning... hehe

In case I forget...

My aunt thinks that I have been spacey lately.
So she got me this ginormous desk calendar.

Product reviews by InsomniacRed

My reviews

There are a few products out there that make my life easier.

The Swiffer Vac: I love this. It is so easy to just run it around the kitchen with out a broom and dustpan. To empty it is simple; just remove the little plastic thing and throw the crumbs away. Once in a while I have to change the filter, but these are pretty cheap. They also have the Swiffer pad that goes behind the vac.

The Swiffer duster: I love being able to throw away my dust. There is a new product out there that is coping them, but I will stick to my Swiffer. If you own one of these dust bunny collecting contraptions, you MUST check out the online demo on how to fluff your duster. LOL . I saw a commercial where they used the Swiffer in a car, what a brilliant idea, now if I can just remember to bring one to the van, Ill be set!

Pledge Multi Surface: This really does work on my desk, windows, and television screen. Not so much on getting those finger marks or spit trails (Zoe likes to “spit draw”) off the coffee table, but the fact that dust does not stick to my stuff is awesome.

Clorox wipes: I love these darn things. But I only really like the Lemon scented ones. I want orange though! I love orange smelling cleaners… I have a container in the kitchen and another in the bathroom at all times.

Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean: This thing works as awesome as they say it does, especially with crayon. Awesome product

My concerns

With all of these “disposable” products, the waste must be taking over the earth. Where does it go? All of the landfills by me have closed in recent years, so where does go? WHERE DOES THE SHIT GO? (Envy)

Weather

This weather is crazy. Its 40 outside. burrrr... it is May right?

(the red dot is where I am...)
Ok and remeber, if you were going to put this on LOOP, it would SPIN.

My day with Mr Hematologist...

I went to the Hematologist today. For those of you who have not heard the story why, here it is...

I noticed some bruising on my left leg one morning while I was in the shower. They looked odd. Not like a couple of bruises, but at the very least, ten bruises on the shin of my leg. I just brushed it off like oh well I must have ran into something; ten times.

One night my husband was tucking me into bed, yes he tucks me in at night, he was like OMGWTF?! I said what?? He asked me what happened to your thigh? On my upper thigh, there were bruises, similar to those I had found on my shin. I don’t think this was the first time I noticed them on my thigh, but it certainly was very memorable.

So after my bruises came and went, I ended up having more bruising in the same exact spots. Okay, time to make a doctor appointment. He did some blood work, and my labs came back, one level was “off” as the doc said. The doctor told me if they come back, call him right away. So when they came back, I called and the nurse had me schedule an appointment with the hematologist.

… Back to today…

The Hematologist looked at all of my blood work all the way back to 2003. My iron levels went up and down thru out my pregnancy with Zoe, but came back up soon after I had given birth. The level that my regular doctor was talking about was one of the levels that are tested for clotting. The first one was fine, and the second one was a bit high. So Mr. Hematologist guy sent me for more tests; five of them to be exact. My arm hurts. Any who, when the tests come back, we will go from there. He did say that I could have a blood disorder, and these tests could tell us. He also said that if any of them came back abnormal, that I would have to go back in and have more blood drawn to have sent to the Mayo clinic in Rochester.

Ticos Tale

Tico has a strange tail. It just seems longer then a cats tail should be. He is pretty sneaky sometimes. I will be walking down the hall way and pass him, and just as my foot is about to hit the floor, his tail swishes under my foot.

The other day I put the girls to bed and Tico was in there and he followed me out. He was meowing and rubbing up against the door frame and my leg. I went to close the door, and just as the door closed, he swished his tail into the butt of the door.

I always feel horrible when this happens, because I step on his tail a lot. I know he doesn’t do it on purpose, or does he...

(yes i did spell "TALE" different then the actual part of the cat ;) )

Upset

I really like Thursday night TV for its fictional contnet. I look to Thursdays and Sundays for entertainment purposes. I watched ER tonight and was very dissappointed that the entire episode was about Africa, Dr Pratt & Carter. For weeks, NBC has been promoting the last three episodes. They have had some very good previews. I was not expecting an entire night in "Africa".

Do not get me wrong. I am not saying that we dont need to address the problems they are having in Africa. I think more could be done. I think there could be more done with in the United States also. On the NBC site, there are several links going to some websites that are trying to do good in different places around the world.

Now if they would have a Dateline, or something about these problems, I would watch it. I expect a different kind of TV from them then I expect from a "drama" TV show. Some times I just need to escape from my problems (which are meaningless to those living in those conditions) and watch some stressless tv. Seeing these people suffer, kill each other, kill those who are trying to make a difference, is not my idea of entertainment unless its a "horror" movie. I guess this could just be a different way to make people aware of the problems in the rest of the world, but maybe some of us like being unaware sometimes.

I have been a fan of ER for a long time now. Ive seen characters come and go. I am attatched to the story line. If it were not for these reasons why I watch, after tonights episode, I would find something else to fill this time slot for entertainment purposes only.

And now I must take my angry self to bed!!!

Thursday

Soo I keep IMing my husband wondering where he is because he wasnt replying...

... Then I realized it is Thursday and he is probably at the bar getting ready to work. duh

Caitlin went right to bed tonight. I always turn their tv on for a little while and normally she comes out for the usual "i need a drink", "i have to go to the bathroom, "I want a hug and a kiss" nightly routine. She did not come back out at all! I am almost sad cuz I didnt get a hug at 8:30!

Tonight is Thursday, a lot of good tv on tonight! Off to watch ER now...

Nighty night

Phobias

I have several phobias. I don’t know why, but I am scared of a lot of things. Some things bother me more then others. Below are some of my phobias.

Achluophobia: Fear of the dark or of night
Yup I am scared of the dark. I don’t know why, but I freak out if it’s too dark inside our apartment or anywhere I am staying.

Batophobia: Fear of heights or being close to high buildings.
I don’t like buildings. I hated driving downtown Minneapolis next to them all. I could barely pay attention to the road, because I was too busy focusing on the buildings.

Climacophobia: Fear of falling downstairs.
I hate stairs. I do not like them. I hate stairs that you can see through, like basement stairs. They scare me a lot.

Demophobia: Fear of crowds
I do not like big crowds of people. It makes me very nervous. I think this might be a control issue, where I do not know what the actions the members of the crowd will take.

Dystychiphobia: Fear of accidents
Ochophobia: Fear of vehicles.
This phobia might stem from all of the car accidents I have been in. I have been in four car accidents, all the other persons fault. Two of the four accidents involved drunk drivers.

Emetophobia: Fear of vomiting
I hate vomiting. I get all shaky and cry if I know I have to vomit. I will force myself to try NOT to vomit. This usually turns out bad though.

Entomophobia: Fear of insects.
Not so much fear of actual bugs, but I feel like they are crawling on me. I freak out and look to see if it’s a bug, or just an itch.

Gephyrophobia: Fear of crossing bridges.
This might be a heights thing, but I do not like big long high bridges. It took me a very long time to be comfortable with crossing the bridge from Superior to Duluth every day. When I was on vacation with Heather, we went over a few huge bridges. In fact, the day that we had to cross the five mile long bridge, I made her drive. My brain tells me that the bridge is going to collapse under me and I and the other vehicles will plummet to our death in the cold icy waters below.

Harpaxophobia: Fear of being robbed.
Kleptophobia: Fear of thieves or loss through thievery
Virginitiphobia: Fear of rape
I do not feel comfortable walking down the street by myself. I have this fear that I will be mugged, beaten and raped by some unsuspecting individual and left for dead. Even if there is no one around, my brain tells me that some one is hiding in the shadows or door ways just waiting for me to walk by so they can attack me.

Ophthalmophobia: Fear of being stared at.
When I go to the store, to a bar, or even walking down the street, I feel like every one is constantly staring at me. It’s a very creepy feeling.

Ornithophobia: Fear of birds.
I don’t really have a fear OF birds, it’s more of a fear that they will POOP on me. Yes. I am scared of bird poop.

Pediculophobia: Fear of lice.
When ever I feel something on my head, I freak out thinking its lice and how I am going to have to get rid of it. I think about how they will be every where in our home.

Arsonphobia or Pyrophobia Fear of Fire
I am scared my house will burn down in the middle of the night and I won’t be able to get out. I don’t like when people wave cigarettes near me, I am scared I will get burned. I have gotten over the fire pit thing because of camping. I love to play in the fire in the summer, but if it gets too big, it’s terrifying to me.

Panophobia, Panphobia, Pamphobia, or Pantophobia,
Olyphobia, Bromidrosiphobia or Bromidrophobia.
Panphobia:Fear of everything. A nonspecific fear; a state of general anxiety

These ones sum it up for me.

Sorry that you were forced to read about most things that terrify me, but hey it was your choice to read my blog in the first place!

Bitchy

Maybe its just the weather or it could be that the neighbors are back, and the workers who stay next door will be here May 20th. It could be that its almost summer and I am still in Hayward, Wisconsin.

Its cold and rainy today, for like the third day in a row. Not 3rd day in WI, but the previous two in Iowa. I am happy that it is raining because the grass, flowers and trees could really use it, but the drearyness that comes along with the rain I could do with out.

Every summer, we get invaded by the workers of the store downstairs (next door). They come from all over the world, and it is neat if you can have a conversation with them, which is rare until the end of the season when they have picked up on some english.

I hatehatehate living off of the "main" street in the summer. I can not park anywhere with in a reasonable distance for hauling groceries. It doesnt seem to matter what time of the day I go, I can not park out front. There are people everywhere. I walk out the door at the bottom of the steps and its like stepping into the middle of a stampeed.

I know our move came faster then we had expected, but it feels like it is taking forever for hubby to get hired full time anywhere. He is going to be manager at the bar hes working at, but theres no way we will be able to get caught up and enough money to move before fall. He is waiting to hear back from the radio station, but he had lunch with the guy a week ago.

BLEH! Ok
